If you'renot understnding the material, perhaps talking to the professor would help.

Or stay focussed by constantly making notes of what the proffessor/tutor's saying, either on a Braillite, pocket PC, laptop or whatever you use to jot things down. I found this a very effective way of staying alert and focussed.

I've also heard that the smell of peppermint can help with concentration. Not sure how true that is, but hey it's worth a go. Eat loads of mints, you'll have to stay awake so as not to choke, and you'll have the freshest breath in Norway! *grins*

Cheers,

If you want to stay focused when taking an early class, try to sleep early before your class and bring a cup of coffee with you. In addition, focus your attention and thoughts to the lecture. Wandering around by thinking about different things other than the subject may cause your attention to shift from the subject to other things, so, if I were you, try to think about the subject and listen to your professor. Asking questions will help out because it will get you back in track if you start to get confused with what the teacher is saying. Asking questions will also tell the teacher that your interested with the subject and that you want to learn from it. I hope it helps.

1 bring a recorder and ask if said teacher will let you record the lecture
2 make arguments in your head after everything she said, disagree or agree and think of why.
3 Find out ways to make it easier. Find theories and concepts, not precepts.
